It’s been awhile since I blogged about my effort to cut down on my energy costs by joining the EcoEnergy grant program. I have done quite a few things around the house, mostly air sealing and caulking but I recently just finished the biggest part of the project. I had my basement walls and headers Spray Foam Insulated. I don’t really have any ideas on the energy saved, that will come this winter. Already I notice a huge reduction in the musty smell down here. It’s pretty much non-existant.
Here are a few photos of the project. I used steel framing but I think wood would have been cheaper and more efficient.

July 30 (BusinessDesk) – Silver Fern Farms, the Dunedin-headquartered meat processing and marketing cooperative, is to close its frozen meat processing plant, Brooks, in Norwich, England.
SFF, which recently closed its Canterbury lamb cutting plant in Christchurch as well as its rendering and casings department at its Belfast plant, bought the Brooks operation in 1998 at a time when significant volumes of frozen carcasses and cuts were sent north for further processing.
An increasing emphasis and consumer demand for chilled products and subsequent drop in frozen meat volumes sent overseas, along with falling numbers of lambs available for processing has made the need for the Brooks plant decrease to a point it is no longer necessary.
“We continue to observe a major shift in consumption from frozen to chilled product as a result of changing lifestyles and increasing demand for fresh, healthy and convenient added-value products,” said SFF chief executive Keith Cooper.
The co-operative is partnering with UK retailers to support their focus on chilled food, and while 2009 New Zealand chilled lambs to Britain grew by 20%, SFF’s growth was significantly higher again he said.
Sixty four employees will lose their jobs because of the Brooks closure, but SFF will retain its Newmarket, Suffolk marketing and logistics operation.
Cooper said part of SFF’s journey towards becoming a fully integrated market led company saw almost all lamb carcasses now being further processed in New Zealand at integrated slaughter and processing plants.

Our friend Denise Richardson of givemebackmycredit.com has posted an article what’s really behind the cause of the continuing mortgage and foreclosure crisis. It seems that one of the major underlying problems is that there’s no motivation for the banks, credit bureaus, corporations, or debt collection agencies to tell the truth. When the facts and the law aren’t on their side, they simply bend the facts and situation to their advantage and end up hurting you, the consumer.
Many people feel that’s exactly the scenario playing out across this country in courtrooms and on Capitol Hill. With continued reports of unfair and wrongful foreclosures and use of fabricated title documents cropping up in courtrooms across the country, it adds up to trouble.

If you’ve ever read a blog, magazine, or website, you’ve probably seen a stock image.
These are photographs that someone has taken and sold on a royalty-free basis to the writer, publisher or designer. The photographer owns the rights to the image, so the buyer is not allowed to resell it. However, the buyer can use it on a website or in another publication subject to the licensing agreement set forth by the photographer. Using stock photography is cheaper than hiring a photographer and it’s much more convenient if you need an image of a far away place or uncommon object. This
